How To Reduce Your Toxic Load In A Toxic World

22 Oct 2018

There’s no doubt that our bodies are constantly battling against toxic load. Nowadays, there are more chemicals in skin care and household products than ever before. In fact, unless you specifically choose a natural product range, most of the products you find on the shelves are packed with chemicals, artificial ingredients, preservatives and toxins. And I haven’t even gotten started on the food we eat! It’s sad, but true- we live in a toxic world. You just need to read the ingredients label on any household cleaning product, or body care product, to know what I’m talking about!

The effects of toxic load on our system

With the skin being the largest, most porous organ in the body, it’s not surprising that some of these chemicals find their way into the bloodstream. Over time, this build-up of chemicals, in the system can lead to toxic overload, where our bodies just can’t handle the barrage of chemicals coming in, and we start to feel sick, sluggish or run down.

In some cases, I’ve chatted to clients who suffer from chronic, recurring allergies, upper respiratory problems, excessive body odour, chronic fatigue, headaches, bloating, skin problems- you name it! The bottom line is, if you’re feeling lousy, your body probably needs a little help to detox – because when the system gets overwhelmed, it gets overloaded and that’s when some nasty symptoms and side-effects start to crop up.

Help is at-hand

The good news is, it is possible to reduce your toxic load, and give your body the helping hand it needs. Hello reboot!

My Elimin8 programme

If you’re feeling sluggish and generally run down, I suggest you follow my Elimin8 programme. It’s a gentle body cleanse that allows your body a break from the daily toxins it processes daily. In addition to removing toxic and/or inflammatory ingredients from your diet, such as dairy, sugar, alcohol and wheat, you’ll also be assisting your lymphatic system by using specific detox tools in the Elimin8 Kit, such as a body brush, tongue scraper and Bentonite clay.

Choosing the right products

Besides your dietary choices, you also get to decide which products you use at home. There are some incredible natural and eco-friendly companies, started by passionate people, who want to offer us all better, healthier options in terms of household and body care products. One of them is local company, SoPure.

I recently had the chance to meet with the husband-and-wife-team, Avin and Romy Levy, who started the company based on their own family’s needs. They are passionate about developing natural, non-toxic products that are effective, yet safe to use at home for everyone, including babies.

They have an impressive range of products, both for the house and for personal use. I have been using the range for the past few months and I’m hooked! In fact, I love the products so much, I’ve decided to stock them on my e-store as I truly resonate with the ethos and mission of the brand. I firmly believe that we don’t have to use conventional chemically laden products, which could have negative, long-term side-effects on our health.

An added bonus with the SoPure product range is that each product is so cost-effective and lasts longer, making it a viable option for everyone!

Some of my favourite products include;

SoPure MiteFree Allergen Spray

How I use it: We spray this product on our bedding and in Bella’s room regularly, especially on her soft toys as dust mites love to settle there. This product also eliminates bacteria and mould which is a bonus!

SoPure Disinfecting Toy & Nursery Cleaner

How I use it: This is a must-have product in our home. We love to entertain and often have babies and children come to visit. We disinfect Bella’s toys at least once a week with this product and it definitely helps to keep bacteria and viruses at bay. I also love that it’s 100% safe which means babies can put toys in their mouth with zero negative side effects. We also use it on Bella’s high chair, on her play matte and sandpit, as well as any surfaces that might harbour germs.

SoPure Hand Sanitizer

How I use it: This product has a permanent place in my handbag. Because germs are everywhere, especially on escalators, shopping trolleys, door handles and counter tops in stores. So, it’s reassuring to know that when Bella shops with me, or we’re in a public play area, I can keep her hands germ free. Another great thing about this sanitizer is that it’s ideal for sensitive skins as it contains no harsh chemicals or alcohol, yet it’s 100% effective.

SoPure Sensitive Skin Bubble Bath

How I use it: Unlike other soap-based foam baths, this one is 100% natural and pH balanced, which means it won’t cause any urinary tract infections or strip the skin of its natural oils. The formulation is ideal for extra sensitive skins, and it’s a super product as it doubles up as a cleanser too, so no need to use additional soap. Bella loves it, and so do I!

SoPure Mosquito Spray

How I use it: Because we travel so much as a family, and love to visit warm, tropical islands, this mosquito spray is another must-have product for me. In fact, it’s one of the first things I pack when I travel, because although it’s 100% natural and non-toxic, it really does keep the mozzies away!
